It's been good this week

I managed 20 miles all on my own yesterday! I also cycled to work four days last week, so a grand total of approx 37 miles this week. I'm impressed but know I have so much further to go.

On the sponsorship front, I have now hit the £1k mark. I am so grateful to everyone who has sponsored me so far and helped me out. Just got to try and keep the momentum going now.

I could do with some hints and tips on the training and sponsorship front, so if anyone has any ideas would be great to hear from you.

Thanks x

Update

Well since my first post, life has taken over a little bit. I was in Harrogate last weekend winning a LABBS chorus bronze medal!! Head to www.amershamacappella.com to find out more!!

I did, however, manage a 15 mile ride this Monday. It was really hard work, cycling into the wind and being on my own but it's something I'll have to get used to. I am going to look for a cycling partner/group though in the New Year to make it a bit easier.

On the sponsorship front, I'm now over the £900 mark! Thanks to everyone who has supported me through various different means - online sponsorship (see below link), the bonus ball every week and the Body Shop parties I've been doing. It's truly appreciated.

First Post!

Hi!
This is my first post on my new blog site! Never done this before, but wanted to keep people informed of how I'm getting on with the training and raising sponsorship for my bike ride.

For those that don't know, I've signed up to take part in the Big Heart Bike Ride which is a 420km ride through the Sinai Desert in Egypt. The ride is taking place in November 2009, so only 12 months left to train.

The ride is raising money to help fight heart disease. The charities are British Heart Foundation, HEART UK, Echo (Tiny Tickers) and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). 4 very worthwhile causes.

I've so far raised around £800, but need to get to £2500! Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.

If you would like to sponsor me, please head to:

With regards to training, I'm now swimming once a week which is a massive step as I've not swam since school. It's quite good to build up a bit of stamina. Most lengths so far managed is 30 in half hour.

I did do 52 miles on my bike a couple of weekends ago, but haven't had chance to get out on it much since then due to being very busy recently. Will have to make more of an effort.......

Right, I'll be trying to keep this updated at least once a week with any updates. Please feel free to comment and pass on any fundraising or training tips.

Thanks
Les x
